Ben McDonald Coltvet earned an A.M. in Religion and Literature from the University of Chicago in 1998. He lives in Chicago and is managing editor of www.elca.org, the Web site of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). He has worked for The Christian Century, the Greater Milwaukee Synod of the ELCA, and the Park Ridge Center for the Study of Health, Faith and Ethics. He’s an avid cross-country skier, crossword puzzler and occasional knitter.

Thank you for sharing Swann’s words about music. I like the image of thinking about life as a keyboard. One never quite masters it but it is in the process of playing music, living life that I continue to find joy and exhilaration. Making music with others is one of God’s special gifts that I will always be grateful for - along with you of course!
